Ecosystem-Led Growth

By Shankar Ganapathy, Co-founder, Boomerang AI. Updated October 28, 2026.

Short answer: ecosystem-led growth uses the relationships your partners already have with your target accounts. Instead of cold outreach, you find accounts where a partner is trusted, then ask the partner's account owner for an introduction or a co-sell. It works because buyers increasingly buy stacks of software that work together, and the partner already sold one piece of that stack. The core loop is: find overlap, pick the warmest partner path, make the ask, track it to a meeting.

Why is ecosystem-led growth getting attention?

Warm routes outperform cold ones. In the Norwest Venture Partners 2025 B2B Benchmark Report, 177 B2B sales and marketing leaders ranked warm referrals from customers or their network as the most effective outreach tactic (65%), ahead of partner co-selling introductions (40%). Partners sit in both buckets.

On a GTMnow panel on ecosystem-led outbound, Andrew Ermogenous of Atlan said 78% of Atlan's non-inbound pipeline came from partners, and that two former SDRs working only partner-sourced pipeline built a channel of about $5M in a year. Brian Weinberger, CRO at Sisense at the time, said on another GTMnow episode that by a company's fourth year, good partners sell, deliver and retain for you. These are their on-air figures, not audited benchmarks, but they show the channel can carry real pipeline.

How is ecosystem-led growth different from partner marketing?

  • Partner marketing runs joint webinars, content and listings. It builds awareness.
  • Account mapping (Crossbeam and similar) shows which accounts you share with a partner. It tells you where overlap exists.
  • Ecosystem-led growth turns overlap into specific introductions: which person at the partner knows which person at the account, and whether they will make the intro now.

Most teams stall between the second and third step. They have an overlap report with hundreds of shared accounts and no system for the ask.

Which ecosystem plays actually work?

  • The partner intro for a stuck deal. A deal stalls at a shared account. The partner's account manager, who has a live relationship there, introduces your AE to the economic buyer.
  • The integration-first expansion. When a customer adopts a partner's product, their team hears about you from the partner's CSM as the natural next piece of the stack.
  • The partner-sourced outbound pod. A small team, like Atlan's two former SDRs, works only accounts with strong partner paths and books meetings through partner intros rather than sequences.
  • The competitive displacement. The account is evaluating a competitor. A partner who works with both vendors gives the buyer an honest view and an intro.

For the mechanics of the ask, see the partner co-sell play.

How do you measure ecosystem-led growth?

  • Partner path coverage: the share of target accounts with at least one partner relationship strong enough to ask.
  • Ask acceptance by partner: how often each partner's people say yes. This shows which partnerships are real.
  • Intro to meeting rate and cycle time for partner-sourced versus cold opportunities.
  • Revenue sourced and influenced by partner, written back to the CRM.

Where does Boomerang AI fit?

Account mapping tells you that you share an account with a partner. Boomerang AI tells you which person at the partner knows which buyer, how well, and whether now is the right time to ask, then Rudy drafts the intro request for the partner's account owner and tracks it to the meeting. Partners sit alongside your team, investors and customer champions as one of four networks Rudy reads. See how it works and Path to Power. Setup is about 60 minutes of technical setup, graph in under a day, full go-live in about a week.

Frequently asked questions

What is ecosystem-led growth?

A go-to-market approach that uses partners' customer relationships and account overlap to source and speed up deals. Instead of cold outreach, you ask a partner who is trusted at the account for an introduction or a co-sell, and track those intros like pipeline.

What results do companies report from ecosystem-led outbound?

On a GTMnow panel, Atlan's Andrew Ermogenous said 78% of Atlan's non-inbound pipeline came from partners, and two former SDRs built a partner pipeline channel of about $5M in a year. Treat these as one company's on-air figures, not a benchmark.

How do you measure ecosystem-led growth?

Track partner path coverage of target accounts, ask acceptance by partner, intro to meeting rate and cycle time against cold opportunities, and revenue sourced and influenced by each partner, written back to the CRM.
