In a human in the loop intro agent, the agent does the work and people make the decisions. The agent finds the path, scores it, picks who should ask, drafts the ask, follows up and logs the outcome. A person approves and sends every ask from their own account, the connector decides whether to make the introduction, and admins set the rules the agent cannot break. Intros spend other people's trust, so this is not optional.
Why does an intro agent need a human in the loop?
Because the asset is not yours. When your board member introduces you, they spend their own reputation. Buyers are already wary of sellers: in LinkedIn's Trust Advantage research, 86% of buyers say expertise drives trust, but only 45% trust sellers. An introduction borrows trust from someone the buyer already believes. An agent that sends asks on its own, at the wrong time, through the wrong person, burns that trust faster than any cold sequence.
Who does what?
What rules should admins set?
- Routing: customer asks through the CSM who owns the account, board asks through the CEO, partner asks through the alliances lead.
- Deal size gates: board and investor asks only above an amount you agree in advance.
- Leave-out rules: people, companies, domains, or whole categories such as current customers or open opportunities, that the agent never suggests.
- Connector preferences: channel, cadence and the deal sizes each connector is willing to help with.
- Permissions: who can change a connector's status, level, notes and categories.
- Data controls: people or groups excluded from calendar data.
What should the connector see?
A short request from someone they know, why this intro, and easy answers. In Boomerang, Super Connectors get each request in Slack with the requester's name and four buttons: Accept, Decline, Needs Clarification and Why This Intro. Decline asks for a short reason, and Needs Clarification sends the question to the workspace admin. Every answer is recorded, so the next ask is better.
How does Boomerang AI keep people in the loop?
Rudy drafts but never sends on anyone's behalf: the relationship owner approves and sends. Rudy submits intro requests, adds Super Connectors and starts connector activation only when a person is in the conversation. Rules for Rudy, set in chat and saved on one card, shipped in the week of October 19; Slack answers for connectors and role-based permissions shipped in the week of October 26.
A checklist before you turn an agent on
- Write down who may ask each type of connector.
- Agree the deal size above which board and investor asks are allowed.
- List what the agent must never suggest.
- Confirm no ask can leave without a person approving it.
- Decide who reviews decline reasons each week.

Frequently asked questions
What does human in the loop mean for AI intro agents?
The agent finds paths, scores them, picks a sender, drafts the ask, follows up and logs the outcome. People make the decisions: the relationship owner approves and sends each ask, the connector decides on the intro, and admins set rules the agent cannot break.
Should an AI agent send intro requests automatically?
No. Introductions spend the connector's trust and reputation. The person who owns the relationship should approve and send each ask from their own account. Boomerang's Rudy drafts asks but never sends on anyone's behalf.
What rules should govern an intro agent?
Routing rules for who asks each type of connector, deal size gates for board and investor asks, leave-out rules for people, companies and account categories, connector preferences on channel and cadence, and permissions for who can change connector settings.
How do connectors respond to intro requests in Boomerang?
Super Connectors get each request in Slack with Accept, Decline, Needs Clarification and Why This Intro buttons. Decline asks for a short reason, and Needs Clarification sends the question to the workspace admin. Every answer is recorded.
