Boomerang vs The Swarm

Boomerang vs The Swarm: an honest comparison.

The Swarm maps who your team, advisors and investors know, on top of a large people and company dataset, and lets you request an intro. Boomerang scores every route in across four connector types, drafts the ask for the relationship owner, and tracks it to the meeting.

The short version

Two good tools, two different jobs.

Choose The Swarm if you want

  • A large people and company dataset, via app, API and MCP
  • A free plan and flat per-company pricing
  • HubSpot, Attio, Clay and Unify in your stack

Choose Boomerang if you want

  • Salesforce as well as HubSpot or Attio
  • Each ask drafted in the sender's voice and routed for approval
  • Every intro tracked to a booked meeting, with nudges when it goes quiet

The Swarm leads on data, sold through its app, API and MCP. Boomerang leads on judgment and action: scoring that knows an overlap from a relationship, and a Rudy that acts on your triggers.

The Swarm details from theswarm.com and its help center, checked 29 September 2026. Its homepage and pricing page disagree on the starting price and trial length; we used the pricing page. "Not stated" means we could not find it on their site, not that it cannot be done.

Where the paths come from

Roughly what a $50M company is sitting on. The Swarm starts from the people who opt in.

The Swarm's strongest data comes from members who import their LinkedIn and Google accounts, topped up with work and education overlaps. Boomerang maps all four connector types from signals that already exist.

Advisors and investors who opt in

Illustrative, not a customer figure. Boomerang maps connectors from signals that already exist, so none of them has to install or upload anything. Primary Super Connectors can choose to add their own network by Chrome extension or CSV.

How a relationship is scored

Not every overlap is a relationship. Rudy knows the difference.

The Swarm's scoring starts mainly from LinkedIn and overlaps: did two people work together, or study at the same school. Useful, but an overlap is not a relationship. Rudy weighs who each person is, how the tie formed, and whether they actually talk.

The Swarm scores

  • LinkedIn and Google networks from members who opt in
  • Work and education overlaps inferred for everyone else
  • Shared investors and portfolio links
  • Connection strength shown as Confirmed or Likely

Rudy scores

  • 80+ relationship signals, weighted by persona, seniority and department, not one overlap flag
  • Tells a real tie from a crowd: a hundred people who share one fund or one employer are not a hundred relationships
  • Knows which functions stay close at any size: in-house legal teams tend to know each other even at a 10,000-person company, where two reps may never have met
  • Capability times willingness: can this person get the meeting, and will they ask

Illustrative example. Rudy scores every path this way, then picks who inside your company should ask.

Data, or a colleague

A graph gives you data. Rudy brings it to life.

The Swarm sells relationship data through its app, API and MCP, and leaves what happens next to you or the tools you build on it. Rudy knows your business, watches your CRM, triggers and deal channels, and brings the path to the rep, ready to ask.

Illustrative example. Nobody searched for this path: Rudy brought it to the deal channel when the trigger fired.

What Rudy watches

  • Your CRM: a new opportunity, a stalled deal, a target account list
  • Your triggers: job changes, funding rounds, hiring, new executives
  • Your Slack deal channels, where it posts the path before anyone asks

What Rudy does

  • Finds the strongest route in and the person who should ask
  • Drafts the ask in that person's voice, within the connector's preferences
  • Follows up, and reports whether it became a meeting
After the path is found

The path is found. What happens next.

The Swarm from there

  • You click to send a templated intro request to the member who holds the connection
  • An optional forwardable note can be set per list
  • The list status changes to Intro requested
  • No documented approval step or follow-up automation
  • Progress is tracked through list statuses

Boomerang from there

  • Scores every path in, capability times willingness, across four connector types
  • Picks the internal hop: whoever inside has the strongest tie to the connector
  • Checks the connector's preferences on deal size, channel and cadence
  • Drafts the ask in the sender's voice; the owner approves and sends it from their own account
  • Logs the request, nudges when it goes quiet, and reports the outcome back

Rudy never sends on anyone's behalf.

Questions

Boomerang vs The Swarm, asked and answered.

What is the main difference between Boomerang and The Swarm?

Where each is strongest. The Swarm is built on a large people and company dataset and maps who your team, advisors and investors know. Boomerang focuses on what happens after the path is found: it picks who should ask, drafts the ask in their voice, routes it for approval, and tracks it to the meeting.

How does relationship scoring differ between The Swarm and Boomerang?

The Swarm grades connections as Confirmed or Likely, drawing mainly on imported LinkedIn and Google networks plus work and education overlaps. Boomerang reads 80+ signals and weights each by persona, seniority and department. A shared employer or fund is not treated as a tie on its own: a hundred people who passed through one company are not a hundred relationships, while in-house legal teams tend to know each other even at a 10,000-person company.

Does The Swarm integrate with Salesforce?

Its site names HubSpot and Attio as CRM integrations, along with Clay, Unify and others, but no Salesforce integration is listed. Boomerang is native in Salesforce, HubSpot and Attio.

How much does The Swarm cost compared to Boomerang?

The Swarm lists a Free plan with 10 connectors and Premium at $99 a month or $2,990 a year per company with 50 connectors, with Enterprise on request. Boomerang starts at $80 a month billed annually on Starter with 75 connectors mapped, $600 on Team and $2,000 on Company. Figures as published in September 2026.

Do people have to sign up for their network to count?

On The Swarm, the strongest data comes from members who import LinkedIn and Google accounts, and it also maps work and education overlaps for people who have not signed up. On Boomerang, connectors install and upload nothing; Primary Super Connectors can choose to add their own network by Chrome extension or CSV.

The Swarm is acquiring Commsor. Does that change anything?

The Swarm announced in July 2026 that it is acquiring Commsor, which is winding down. If you are moving off Commsor, see our Boomerang vs Commsor page for how the two approaches compare.

Does either tool send emails on my behalf?

The Swarm emails the intro request to the member who holds the connection. Boomerang never sends on anyone's behalf: Rudy drafts the ask, and the person who owns the relationship approves it and sends it from their own account.

Find the path. Then finish the job.

Rudy finds the warm path into every target account, drafts the ask for the person who knows the buyer, and tracks it to the meeting.
